Mesmerized by the art of Bharatanatyam, Uma started her training at an early age of 4 at Sree Krishna Music School, Chennai. Here she had the opportunity to learn the Vazhvoor style of Bharatnatyam from Guru Smt. Kamakshi Jayaraman (disciple of the legendary Vazhuvoor Ramaiyya Pillai).

Her passion for carnatic music also took its roots here, where she started learning the basics and continued her advance training with late Shri. Sundaravaradhan. She continues to train under the guidance of Vidwan Shri. Trichy K. Ramesh.

Her passion for both Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music has led her to start Natyadhwani where, she teaches/shares her knowledge and passion for the artform with her students. with utmost dedication.
